Tuesday, Betsy DeVos was confirmed as our Secretary of Education by a tiebreaking win, courtesy of Mike Pence. Throughout her hearing, DeVos was met with a wave of doubt and outrage over her lack of public school knowledge and her contributions to Trump’s campaign and the Republican Party as a whole. 

While her support of school choice is something to look forward to, she still remains a controversial pick.

She may have seen it as a harmless joke, but others were less impressed.

Just a few days after her comical tweet, DeVos was temporarily blocked from entering a DC school by a swarm of protestors.

Her protestors held signs reading “Public schools support our kids and their American Dreams,” and “Betsy DeVos does not play well with others — should be held back.”
